Sports Excellence Scholarship
For some people, the financial considerations tied to higher education often play a crucial role in shaping their choices about pursuing the very skills that would pave the way for a successful career.
At James Cook University (Singapore campus), we believe in fostering both academic and athletic excellence. Each year, we award a sports excellence scholarship as financial aid to members endorsed by the High Performance Sport Institute (HPSI), to support these students in their academic and sporting aspirations.
The scholarship is at 50% of the full programme fee for the endorsed scholarship awardee who will be joining JCU Singapore as a new student of selected undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
Terms and Conditions
• This scholarship is only available to new students commencing in selected programs and intakes at the Singapore campus of James Cook University (JCU Singapore).
• The scholarship is only open to members endorsed by the High Performance Sport Institute (HPSI). Awarding of the scholarship is at the discretion of the university.
• JCU Singapore reserves the right to reject any application that is not accompanied by the required HPSI endorsement.
• The scholarship covers 50% of the tuition fees for scholarship recipients. The scholarship amount will be offset against the final subjects undertaken.
• Scholarship recipients must pay for a minimum of 12 subjects in a 24-subject undergraduate program and a minimum of 6 subjects in a 12-subject postgraduate program, even in cases where advanced standing is granted.
• The scholarship is applicable to all bachelor’s and master’s degree programs, except for the Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours), Graduate Diploma of Psychology, Master of Psychology (Clinical), and Master of Philosophy.
• For the Master of Psychological Science (Business Psychology), the 50% scholarship covers up to 14 subjects (excluding the Major Project). Students must pay for at least 7 subjects at standard fees and the Major Project, even if they receive advanced standing.
• The scholarship does not cover any re-module fees incurred if the awardee fails a subject.
• Scholarship recipients are also not eligible for any other scholarships offered by the university.
• The scholarship may be withdrawn at any time if, in the opinion of the university, the recipient’s academic progress or behaviour is deemed unsatisfactory.
• JCU Singapore does not guarantee or provide employment for scholarship recipients upon graduation.
• If the scholarship recipient withdraws from the university or terminates the scholarship prematurely, the university reserves the right to recover all scholarship monies disbursed.
• The scholarship is not transferable to any James Cook University campus in Australia.
• Scholarship recipients are required to take on the role of student ambassador, or a similar representative role, and may be called upon to give publicity talks or testimonials on behalf of the university.
• In the event of any dispute, the decision of the university will be final and binding.
